Golden october sunday

Today has been all about the pursuit of Carpe Diem – spending the first half of the day outside on a long photo walk- and the second half at the open Windows of my favourite room in my Appartement, sketching, drawing, colouring the latest ideas from the bottom of my heart.

Here are some impressions:

As to the drawings – imagine being invited to have a peak at my vw campervan – Daydream-Edition 🙂

On creativity (pt I of probably a whole series)

wpid-IMG1560.jpg

This might become a post which is partly “everyday-philosophy”, partly gratitude related.

I am in the very lucky Situation to have not only amazing friends per se, and also, there is a deep exchange about creativity. A wonderful day spent at my Long-time friend U.’s house yesterday, 7 hours of crafting and talking and happy-sighing lies behind me time wise but is still present in my heart. A talk to my friend A. a few days ago about how it feels to do creative activities, how you define creativity and how often you want creativity in your life keeps ringing in heart and head, too. Both talks make me deeply grateful and inspire me in ways I can hardly put in words. Ideas spark ideas, and I am well advised to Keep a paper and pen attached to my Body. Very deep written into my soul’s interests are Tara Leaver’s thoughts on creativity – you can read them in her amazing book “Creative Spark” and her blog.

Am I an exception there? No. And here’s my theory:

If you make room for creativity, if you make creative Actions a Habit in your every day life, even if it’s “only” for ten minutes a day, you will notice a Change in your thinking. Maybe even more, if you commit to a form of Meditation, this is a particularly personal take on things and also said with grateful experience. I started a morning Habit of sitting Meditation in April 2012 and have kept to it ever since, days having missed out I can count on my two hands. After having found about Tara’s take on artmaking, I found myself several times a week, drawing, sketching, etc. on index Cards, in sketchbooks, or being inspired by wonderful Susannah Conway and Journal my heart out, or girly with masking tapes and Stickers to decorate away happily.

But sketching, drawing, writing and decorating are just a few examples of creativity, or, they are the outside result of a creative Soul pursuing her need to act out on ideas. The creativity takes place inside and you take Actions. Here is a list (a list, imagine that, dear freuqent Reader ^^) of things I personally consider as creative, although These things might turn very left brained, too, admittedly.

The things many People agree to call creative:

  • Collage
  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • sculpting
  • sewing
  • writing short stories/poetry/fiction
  • land art
  • film making
  • photography  …

You get the Point, right?

A bowl of veggie soup ..as a way to make someone feel home. Works for me.

A bowl of veggie soup ..as a way to make someone feel home. Works for me.

Something very sweet  I read in Tara Leaver’s Creative Spark and on her blog:

baking or cooking. She suggests that when you turn away from easel or desk and you feel uncreative, yet you feel like bringing Forward something, cooking a simple recipe might be a very good thing to do.

What do you do when you bake a cake or cook a veggie Rice recipe for example? You Combine. You measure. You decide. lots of things involved in every creative process. Quod erat demonstrandum. 🙂

What I would like to add to a creativity list:

  • decorating the Apartment
  • developing a concept for a particular purpose
  • planning a Party
  • simply Setting a table
  • plucking flowers and arranging them to a Bouquet
  • organizing your day with our without day planner (not the right blog post to get me started on the creative use of my filofax ^^)

Please feel invited to add to this list, as it’s far from being enough. And I am so curious. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Let me add this wonderful blog post in case you feel the list bit curious about making time and space for creativity in your life:

Day 6 of ’31 days of playful drawing’ – kitchen love

Today’s prompt is an ever-favourite. Kitchen! Yes, I am in love with my kitchen,

  • the wooden cinnamon coloured cupboards I bought from the Family who had this Apartment before me,
  • the “latte macchiato”-coloured wall facing the cupboards,
  • the windows looking out on my other very favourite room, the Loggia and even further to the back gardens with their beautiful old trees.
  • the fact that there is always a gentle scent of coffee in the air
  • the fact that I could do a “Cup Party” with lots of People, as I do have …well…lots of mugs and teacups. Each has a history, really each.
  • the big kitchen table who today met sepia ink. It took it quite well. 🙂

On another note: Yes, I am happy to have 2 weeks of fall break, it’s a bliss. For this reason I dedicated 3 hours of this afternoon to drawing and colouring today’s prompt, kitchen.

Translated: I drew and coloured with a considerable amount of concentration…and dedication, so, put love and energy into something which means a lot to me, which makes me happy and grateful: the coffee with chocomel, a Cup of verbena-lemongrass tea at night, candle light, fairy lights and so much more…

The result? Feeling accomplished and grateful, even more as I like the outcome but it wasn’t even the most important Thing. The process, the positive thoughts while being engaged, this is just so good, so nourishing that I want to practice it as often as possible.

Thanks heavens there 25 days of october left, and then: repeat 🙂

Sparks pointing to the most different directions – all of them creative!

English: Sparkler, violent reaction (guy fawke...

Before this year ends I am coming around with a look back on 6 very Special weeks of this year –  from mid-october to late November.

Tara Leaver, whose art and Website I have introduced in other blog Posts yet, for many good reasons, had developed the Creative Spark Ecourse.

Now, what is that ?

Official answer: it’s an online course which Tara – with a lot of wisdom, empathy, experience,

passion and love for the very detail created to make People develop or re-kindle their creativity.               Tara herself is a visual Artist but she approaches creativity in such a deep, holistic way,

she encourages to embrace “non-creative” phases by suggesting what to do and offers

the most diverse sources for creativity. Believe me. I’m a witness.

I will never forget These 6 weeks, as they were one of the 2-3 very Highlights of this year which is going to end in just a few hours.

Tara had a post waiting for us each weekday during this six weeks, but this was only one example of her being present. In the closed Facebook Group she installed for the Exchange between us happy People taking part she always knew JUST the perfect word to say, the perfect hint to give.

Speaking of our Group: We just met for this Ecourse experience …and within shortly we developed a Group Spirit which went beyond my Imagination. This means, the conversations between us were deeply soaked in Support, understanding, interest and open-mindedness. Every time I logged into this Group I had a Feeling of bliss. Tara – thanks to her a zillion times and more – held it all together. I felt like I was in England, in Australia (especially!), in Canada, Scotland and the States because we all seem(ed) to be so Close together, I had the inner visions of an artstudio community constantly welling up talking to these wonderful ‘Sparquettes’ (we found a whole new language-code around the word spark).

As to the paining? I do paint, draw and sketch, it wasn’t a first but everything I have done so far has mostly been rather chaotically self-taught (yet very enjoyable) Never in this world would I have thought possible to develop such experience in “just” six weeks! Although I really did have the most positive attitude doing this course I can imagine. To give you a visual Impression of the six weeks let me take you on a stroll:

What happened during these 6 weeks:

I found my love for Ensos, thanks to all the wonderful Exchange in our Sparkgroup:

I found myself having not one, not two, no THREE sketchbooks due to developing the main interests – again thanks to wonderful exchanges with those amazing People in our Group. And the Special Thing is: Joanne, my friend from Australia and I started a sketchbook cooperative. She started a yoga sketchbook while I started a Buddha art sketchbook.

Coffee or tea? A thank you to all new followers and for amazing comments in the past weeks!

There is no bad weather, there is just wrong clothing people say. Well……yes. Agreed.

But there is a cosy, incense-scented loggia, crayons and coloured pencils and tons of Images/ideas in my System calling me and also a self-made tracklist with Songs of Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Jonathan Jeremiah and Elvis Perkins….which made me appreciate autumn colours from the inside and dedicate myself to index Card drawings.

By this I would love to say thank you very much to all new followers for stopping by at my blog,

reading, commenting and even following it! Thank you! I very much appreciate this!!!!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

First sketch - to be continued 🙂

Sitting in a cosy mossgreen armchair this morning, in a café downtown, I decided to spend the afternoon with graphite pen and sketchbook..doing a little café-inspired drawing.
There might come more. 🙂 Getting really in the mood …while Jonathan Jeremiah and Damien Rice are singing for me 😉
A lovely weekend for you!

Love for common things. Cup gallery # 1

The aforementioned Mr Nobbs, whose book I …assimilated into my System ^^…. says that he drew lots of Cups. As I own lots of  Cups (ask my dear friend who wrapped them all in paper when I moved about 20 months ago…ha ha) I guess I have a lot of drawing material.

Such a lovely idea anyway to draw such a common, yet important thing. Having in mind how many minutes a day I am holding a cup in my Hand…it ranges from 30 minutes to maybe something like 2 hours!

And there are Special Cups for Special moods. of course

The first attempt, however, was a little de-caffeinated. Forgive me. 🙂 Pretty please….

In my eyes (or rather: for my eyes ^^) it gets a bit better here:

Small Cup – allpurpose in case you’re wondering. Mood-lifter for grumpy times 🙂

Very likely to be continued. Which is a good Thing, considering I  called this Cup Gallery #1

And please, pretty please, share your Cups, too, photo, sketch, drawing (or ask for my address and ship them, hahahaha…no not really cupboards are not exactly empty.) Share the love for common things. Post them on your blog and link it to this post..or send them to my emailadress.. wouldn’t that be delightful? (yes it would, eh?)
